Dental tourism
Patients need to understand the risks posed by dental tourism.
The problem
Dental tourism is on the rise, and many patients are facing problems on their return, with dentists seeing the results. 95% report that they have examined patients who have travelled abroad for dental treatment. Of those, 86% say they have treated cases that developed complications.
The hard sell comes with hidden follow-up costs. 98% of patients are chasing cheaper treatments. But Two-thirds of dentists say that it costs patients at least £500 to repair the damage done to teeth. Over half report that it cost more than £1,000.
The solution
Patients need protection. Dentists have real concerns about the quality and continuity of care, and how patients can complain or seek redress.
Our impact
We have raised the alarm bells about the risks of dental tourism across social media, on the news, and within the dental community.
