We want to ensure that the next generation of dentists is fully equipped to deliver care to patients.
The problem
COVID caused huge disruption to dental schools and students. Today’s graduates now face eye-watering levels of debt and gaps in clinical confidence. The growing exodus from the NHS has raised questions over whether the UK has sufficient dentists to meet demand.
The solution
We do not accept that increasing student numbers is a ‘magic bullet’ that will solve the access crisis in dentistry. But we do believe schools, students, trainers and academics require real support to guarantee the future of this service.
Our impact
We actively engage on all policies and plans that impact on the training and career pathways for dentists. We stepped in to ensure students had safety nets in place when facing delayed graduation because of the pandemic.
